“We Light the Way” deals intensely with the wedding among Rhaenyra and Laenor. A great feast to celebrate the wedding ends in misfortune, as Criston Cole kills Laenor’s sweetheart, Joffrey. Following those events, the Targaryens and Velaryons gather for a small, private wedding function. When Rhaenyra and Laenor trade vows, Viserys collapses and the episode ends.
Viserys’ wellbeing was worse than ever in this episode, so it feels like his life is coming to an end. There’s also the significance of seeing Rhaenrya strengthen her case to the Iron High position just before possibly dying. It seems like this could be the ideal opportunity for him to go.
Is King Viserys Dead?
We don’t be aware for sure assuming that this is the end for King Viserys on the show, however we truly do have a thought based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood. The book chronicles the history of House Targaryen and it details the death of King Viserys. In the book, Viserys dies in his sleep when his kids are more established, possibly at the hands of his better half, Alicent. That would indicate that he isn’t dead at this point in the series.
That said, the show has proactively changed certain details about the book. King Viserys dying is the significant part, as it sets moving the events that lead to the conflict between his kids, Rhaenyra and Aegon II. Considering the amount more could happen this season, nonetheless, it seems safe to think that Viserys will continue on. Briefly longer, at least.
