The long-short of all that timeline math is a simple conclusion: House of the Dragon will probably end Season 1 on the cliffhanger of setting up the significant struggle in this period of time: The Dance of Dragons. Round of Thrones referred to it ordinarily (mostly corresponding to Daenerys Targaryen’s story): a Targaryen Nationwide conflict begins over the right of succession to, as a matter of fact, King Viserys I.
So there it is: before the main occasion in House of the Dragon can begin, King Viserys I has to die.
Theory: King Viserys Passing Will Be The House of the Dragon Finale
Going with the theory that Season 1 will end by setting up the Dance of Dragons struggle, the best guess is that King Viserys I will die in either the penultimate episode (Ep.9) or the season finale (Ep. 10). The way that House of the Dragon’s finale episode is named “The Black Sovereign” is a pretty solid indicator that there will be burial service dresses coming out.
The midseason episode (Ep. 5 “We Light the Way”) was also an impressive “occasion” episode, which used the premise of a wedding festivity as scene for numerous sorts intense person conflicts. It would be great symmetry to end the season with a memorial service for a king, in which all the simmering ambitions and conflicts we’ve been seeing the entire season, finally bubble over into a hard and fast conflict.
