Marvel's Kevin Feige Confirms the Status of the Avengers In the MCU

The Avengers have officially disassembled. While Avengers: Final stage made plain the fates of most of the individual Avengers following the fight with Thanos, the status of the Avengers association has been more nebulous. Speaking at the D23 Exhibition on Saturday, during the Marvel piece of the Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios, twentieth Century showcase, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige spread the word that the Avengers are no more, thus leaving a vacuum that Marvel’s newest group, the Thunderbolts, can fill. “Just because there isn’t an association like the Avengers any longer, yet we presently have the Thunderbolts,” Feige said, confirming that the Avengers are at this point not a going worry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This raises some questions about the fate of the Avengers and what the Avengers titles mean in some of Marvel’s upcoming movies. The MCU’s Multiverse Saga will close with two consecutive Avengers films, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Do those titles mean another Avengers group will frame? Or on the other hand is “Avengers” simply an approach to denoting that certain films are finales to Marvel’s sagas?
“I think we learn something on each venture we do, however as we were laying out, even three years prior here laying out Phase Four, which we didn’t spread out all of, yet most of, we understood that it’s altogether different than Phase One, Two and Three, that that there are more projects in less years, and therefore it had some issues, you’re not going to culminate like clockwork in an Avengers film,” Feige told ComicBook.com at San Diego Comic-Con. “What’s more, every one of the films themselves presently have become very huge and are crossover events in numerous ways. Furthermore, later, you know, the inventive experience we had with Infinity War and Final plan, it seemed like it was tied in with capping a saga, saving consecutive Avengers films for the fulfillment of a saga and that is truly the thing we needed to spread out today.”
As for the previous Avengers, founding members Iron Man and Dark Widow both kicked the bucket to overcome Thanos. Captain America matured and resigned. Thor left Earth and is presently a father. Hawkeye seems content to leave the superhero life behind to spend time with his loved ones. The Mass remains dynamic and is at present off-world.
