Rick and Morty is getting further into the depths of its new version of the multiverse, and one of the creators behind everything has separated how the group behind the series keeps track of the main pair’s original universes as well as how everything wound up connected to one another too. Season 6 started off by picking up from all of the promise toward the finish of the fifth season and further fleshed out Rick’s curious origin story, and it did as such by sending the nominal pair back to the original universes of origin for more investigation.
By sending Rick, Morty, and Jerry back to the original universes following a gateway liquid rebooting mishap, fans got to see just how connected Rick C-137 and Morty really are as it put an entirely different perspective on their relationship. It was such a trap of reveals that there was a question as to how the group really set up everything, and as Rick and Morty series co-creator Dan Harmon explains, keeping track of the relative multitude of original universes of origin and other multiverse shenanigans are monitored by every one of the writers rather than one person keeping track of everything.

Speaking with Assortment pretty much all of the multiverse reveals in Rick and Morty’s Season 6 debut, Harmon uncovered that the group really sorted out the connection between the Cronenberg universe and Rick Prime “exceptionally late” in the writing process of it, “Indeed, a ton of times I’m particularly helpless before more youthful writers who are truly fans of the show, and I trust them to keep track better compared to I can,” Harmon started. “Yet, we’ll have lots of confusing conversations and it was exceptionally late when I understood, goodness, based on the conversation we’re having at present, it almost sounds like Cronenberg World may, as a matter of fact, have been the home of the Original Rick that we’re talking about, and that means that he’s really Morty’s grandfather.”
As Harmon explained further, the group was “great part of the way through writing this story” when it clicked for Harmon, yet he als noticed that “it’s a committee thing keeping track of this stuff” and the co-creator “wouldn’t trust one person” to keep track of the relative multitude of twists and turns. As the series continues getting considerably greater following the many reveals in Season 6’s debut, there are probable going to be much more universes, origins, and more to keep track of!
